Black and White

This poor blog has been so neglected. But I finally have some photos to feed it!

My friend Vickie (Nature's Details) invited me to participate in a 5-day Black & White photo challenge on Facebook. Not one to turn down a challenge (if I know it's going to be good for me), I accepted.

Here are the results.

You'll see there are more then five photos. The challenge forced me to take lots and lots of photos, because it opened my photographer eyes once again. Thanks, Vickie!

Day 23: Today I'm grateful for...

Each day of November, I've been posting something I'm grateful for on Facebook.
I've already said "my morning walks" so today I thought I'd elaborate.

Today I'm grateful for...

...rain and raindrops...

...morning walks with my puppies and clear pools in too-long-dry creek beds...

...autumn colors...

...and my home in the Hollow.

Looking Back at August

It seemed like August barely arrived before it was leaving again,
blowing past me while I was busy getting acquainted with the real estate business.

I still made time for quite a few morning walks with my camera.

Here are a few of my favorites from the past couple of weeks...

One of these days I'll find the name of these.
They're tiny and easy to ignore, but are so photogenic, aren't they?

There are different stages of beauty. Don't you agree?

Snow-on-the-Prairie.
Another one that's easy to ignore, but so beautiful if you take a closer look.
(Thanks to TexWis Girl for letting me know its name!)

A cousin to the Mexican hats.
A final hurrah for the summer.

This sign is close to the road I walk almost every day, but I don't think I've ever noticed it until now.
I love the combination of blue and rust.

I love how the bark on this post has peeled and flopped over the barbed wire.
See the sign from the photo above in the background?

A man I used to work with told me his family used to eat prickly pear, but I don't remember how he said they cooked it.
(Yes, I know. I can probably find a recipe on the internet, now, right? Hmmm...maybe next year.)

A premonition of cooler weather on its way?
I hope so!

Hello September.... please don't be in as big a rush as August! Take your time and let us enjoy you!

Walking with Frankie (Frankie, Part 2)

Just a few photos from the archives of Frankie, the guinea fowl who blessed us by choosing us as his family a few years ago, until his untimely death two years later by some unknown predator...

We miss you, Frankie!
(If you missed it, be sure to visit Part 1)

A dog is one of the remaining reasons why some people can be persuaded to go for a walk.

A Frankie Photo Album

Our local electricity co-op is sponsoring a photography contest in honor of their 75th anniversary. They are looking for members' favorite photos representing their life in Central Texas.

So of course I chose a photo of a walk with the puppies, back when Belle really was a puppy and Frankie, our late guinea fowl, thought he was one, too.

We never tired of seeing that funny little guy tagging along.

The link to my submitted photo is HERE.
Voting begins on the 26th and I'd really appreciate yours.
I could win some cash!

It was tough trying to pick one to contribute, but so much fun digging back through old photos of Frankie.

I came across several favorites and thought I'd share them with you.

Technically and photographically, they aren't great.
But memory-wise, they're priceless.

Oh, how I miss that funny face peering in at me...

Breakfast!

Max's turn.

Charly's turn.

Finally, Frankie's turn.

Okay, that's enough for one post.

Stay turned for "Frankie Memories, Part 2"...
