A Weekend at Flat Creek Estates

I brought my camera along with me to work this weekend
so you could see what I see during a day or two on the job.

Wine glasses and grapevines, of course.

Do vineyards outside of Texas use barbed wire?
Just curious.

Trooper, king of the castle, or, er, estate...

Snack time...

He's got Chef well-trained, you can see...

Guests...

(Her name is Kona)

Lots of food and wine action...

Lemon Sole Almondine

Toasted Almonds and Chive Brown Butter
served with Potato Rösti and Seared Spinach

Crème Bruleé

Not a bad place to spend a weekend, is it?
Stop by some time.

  1. Looks like a cool place! I had to laugh at the barbed wire comment. It's probably a Texas thing, but I have no idea. :)

  3. Do they really allow the dogs in the kitchen? If so, that's a surprise for a restaurant, but I guess they do things differently in Texas! ;-)

    Great looking entree!!

    Thanks for linking up!

  4. Oh, Lord no! No dogs in the kitchen. We're hardly allowed in there, much less dogs! Trooper's the owner's 10 year old Red Doberman. He stands outside the kitchen and barks until Chef comes out with his treat! Other dogs aren't even allowed in the restaurant, but we have outside seating. Here in Texas we still have strict standards and frequent health inspections - ours just passed one in the high 90's.

  5. It's good to rest mind and body and just accept a bit of the good life.

  6. Barbara,
cool pictures! This is where you work?? How cool is that!
I didn't know that you could grow grapes in Texas. Thought you had to have cool temps at night.
    Love those dogs!

  7. I won't pretend to know a lot about it, but I think it has to do with the type of grapes. There are some we can't grow here, but others that thrive. I think our weather is a lot like Italy's.

It's amazing where grapes thrive..hot climate...cool climate..you just need to find the right varietals.

  13. Well-trained Chef indeed - good job Trooper!! :-) Looks like some gorgeous food is being created there. Some amazingly action-packed images! How did you do that?? - I wouldn't know how to capture images like that in a place like that without feeling I was in the way but it appears as if you're just a breeze of light air passing through! Nice work.
