Good News, Bad News

Good News...

I spent an hour or so this afternoon shooting photos of sassy colts and their mommas. I'll post more later, but here's one of my favorites.

(Better news? It might lead to more horse photography gigs!)

Bad News...

My 70 to 300mm Nikor lens won't focus, either in auto or manual.
Dang it.
Guess it's time for a check-up.

But Other Good News...

I finished editing photos from my first "Baby Bump" photo shoot and here are a few of my favorites... (do I really have to pick a photography'niche'? I enjoy them all!)

  1. Look at that tail! Looks like one of those magnetic dusters! Why do you have to have a niche? Good photos are good photos, no matter what the subject!

  3. The colt shot is amazing. Great use of light. I like the vertical shot of the new mama on the beach. I don't think I could do that kind of photography; it's a little too intimate for me. I hope you get as many photography gigs as your heart desires! I might have a shot at real estate photography! Did my first one yesterday. Not my favorite thing, but hey, if it pays I'll learn to like it. lol

    1. Thanks, Gail! I saw the photos you posted of your own house and they were great! I'm with you about the pay thing. If it's for photography, it's already a step up from other jobs!

  4. No, I don't think a niche is necessary unless and until you feel the pull. Lovely shots. I especially love that colt. Sorry to hear about the lens woes. Here's hoping it will resolve easily. Maybe just a cleaning of the lens contacts?

  5. Barbara,
I am so thrilled for you about the horse photography gigs! I hope you get them.So sorry about your lens. I have been looking at the tamron 70-300.

Your maternity shots show a lot of imagination and they are tastefully done. I really love the first one.

  8. i had issues recently with my 28-300 .. couldnt get it to focus .. turns out to be user stupidity .. i somehow had moved one of the settings on the side of lens off auto .. before you freak out and rush to a repair shot .. double check that all your settings are correct ..

meanwhile those are awesome shots you got ..

  9. Barbara, I think your niche will find you. At least that's what I'm hoping for myself. If you take enough pictures in different niches, then as people find your work, you'll discover what is wanted most. I'm hoping the best for you as you find your path! ;->
