I've been forced to add an afternoon walk to my daily routine.
One in the morning just isn't enough,
what with the lingering sunshine,
the new flowers popping up everywhere,
the sound of a tumbling creek...
Of course, I take my camera, so you can come along with me.
First stop is the big pond, so Max can cool off...
Belle gets close enough for a drink, but rarely wades in past her two front paws.
She prefers lounging in the sand until Max decides he's thoroughly soaked.
Yellow is still the main color of the season...
(I found out these are called Golden Groundsels - I still prefer Yellow Explosions.)
...but blue and purple are popping up everywhere, too.
I loved the delicate furl of these... um, I'm not sure what these are.
If flowers could talk, the one below would be shouting "PARTY!", don't you think?
It's technical name is "Sensitive Briar" but I prefer "Pink Party"...
So far there's only one of these Indian Blankets blooming.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a blanket of Indian Blankets!
Unfortunately, there are more things sprouting than beautiful flowers...
Be careful not to trip on these vines.
Ouch!
This is one of the paths I take on my afternoon walk.
The creek is just to my right.
My absolute favorite spot...
It's obvious now that many trees didn't make it through the drought.
The shadows of bare branches on the trunk of this tree caught my eye.
The dreamiest blue...
Don't these look like tiny irises?
These tiny pink flowers are spreading everywhere...
...and butterflies love them!
you've got lots of blooms going on! love to see your sweet pups!!! more, more!
ReplyDeleteThank you, TWG! Soon!!
Deletei'm envious you have such a beautiful place to walk. great shots, i agree about the sensitive briar, should be called pink party.
ReplyDeleteI give thanks every day for it! I never imagined actually living somewhere like this!
Deleteyour pups are regal....so so beautiful.

You are very welcome!!
DeleteThese images are beautiful! I can't imagine having a nice creek, or pond, within walking distance. What a pleasure that must be! It's really sad how many trees didn't survive the drought. Just imagine... surviving all those years, through so much, only to die from lack of rain. Such a shame.
ReplyDeleteI grew up in Pasadena, so you know I never imagined having this within walking distance, either! Yes, it breaks my heart seeing all the ones that didn't survive.
DeleteNice flower shots! Not a whole lot blooming around here yet. I saw that the daffodils down to the library are at least budding. They haven't opened yet. I can hardly wait since they are one of my favorite things to photograph.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love daffodils! They won't grow around here, unfortunately.
DeleteWhat a beautiful area with so many lovely flowers. Those pink party flowers (of course that's what they should be called) look like sparklers. Your pups are gorgeous. Thanks for bringing us along.
ReplyDeleteI thought they looked like sparklers, too!!
Deleteoooh - nice walk!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!I agree!
DeleteOh, what wonderful spring shots! As we freeze here I'm extra grateful for the warmth and light of your photos.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Fi! Hoping spring finds you soon!
DeletePretty flowers ~ cute pups! :)
ReplyDeleteHope you had a happy Easter Barbara!
xo Catherine
I did! I hope yours was wonderful, too!
DeleteI can't believe Belle won't join Max in the pond! What's up with that? And, the name Pink Party is perfect!
ReplyDeleteWould you believe the very next day she waded in up to her belly? Her ears must have been burning!
DeleteI'd be happy to walk anytime! Beautiful captures!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to walk with you here, but also at your place! So beautiful!
DeleteSuch a wonderful little waterfall:) I love your big dogs <3
ReplyDeleteI love my little waterfall - and of course, my big goofy dogs, too!
